FDA compliant is a way of describing products and materials that are safe for direct contact with food. These materials are also sometimes called food contact substances (FCS).
A Food Contact Substance is any material that comes into contact with or is used for manufacturing, product packing, packaging, transporting or for holding food. The plastics and the pigments used in the production of colored plastic fittings and cooking utensils are a few examples of food-contact substances.
FDA stands for the US Food and Drug Administration, a federal agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
